ABOUT SPLIT SILK BOUTIQUE
THE HANDPRINT
In every life, handprints are left. They come from people who touch our lives in various ways. Some handprints are soft, beautifully pressed into our hearts like a faded stamp. Others are heavy and deep, leaving behind dark impressions that never seem to fade.
I’m Rebecca, a small-town southern girl who happens to love fashion. Split Silk Boutique’s story begins with a prominent handprint on my heart. My grandmother, Lessie Still.
With every stylish piece you bring home, my hope is that you’d also take the joy, confidence, and grace that she gave to me.
In the midst of adversity, Lessie wore gratitude like a gown and joy like a brooch pinned to her blouse. It didn’t matter the challenges she faced in life, including losing her mother at birth and being separated from her twin sister, fighting breast cancer, and enduring the death of many loved ones…her complaints were nonexistent. May each piece from Split Silk bring you joy.
Growing up, Lessie instilled in me an unwavering confidence in who God made me to be. From trusting me with her breakable glass dishes and always letting me play with her porcelain figurines to treating me like I was absolutely perfect in her eyes, she taught me that I was valuable. May each piece from Split Silk give you an unwavering confidence.
Beyond it all, Lessie taught me about grace. While the world tells us that we must be a certain size, specific shape, or particular body type, Lessie taught me that God finds our imperfections perfect…and so should we! May each piece from Split Silk remind you to have grace for yourself and others.
THE DREAM
Her handprint remains on my heart today, and when I was just fifteen years old, I went to sleep in my room and had a vivid dream. The next morning, I shared every detail of the dream to my parents.
I remembered the boutique that I opened on grandmother Lessie’s land. I remembered the words that I uttered to each customer. I remembered the excitement in their eyes after each sale.
“What about the money?” Dad wondered.
“What about being a teacher?” Mom asked.
“How will you do this at fifteen?” they questioned.
Reality always seems to rain on every dreamer’s hopes. But I knew this wasn’t the end. Lessie’s handprint on my heart was much too deep to deny. I was determined to make this dream into a reality.
Several years, a beloved teaching career, a husband and two kids later, I still remember my boutique from that dream.
I remember the words I uttered to each customer.
I remember the excitement in their eyes.
Mostly, I remember you.
You’re why Split Silk Boutique exists.
You, the girl who wants to make every mundane moment magical. The girl who longs for a stylish piece to compliment her natural beauty. The girl who wants to feel confident in who God made her to be.
Oh girl, you have come to the right place. Make yourself at home!
